What do you do?

I am Sheree, (Beauty by Sheree) a self employed beauty therapist about to open my own salon!

Top tip for someone who wants to start a business

If you are thinking of starting your own business 100% go for it! What’s the worst that can happen? I would rather go through my life knowing I tried to achieve my goals and dreams than not bothering at all and wishing I had. Luckily for me It is the best thing I ever did and I have never once looked back! My best advice - Just go for it!! One of my favourite quotes is ‘If your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough'.

Your must have app for business

My must have app for my business is Ovatu, which is an appointment booking system so my clients can book in online and also I can see all of my appointments and availability on my phone, it is so convenient and I don’t know what I would do without it! Also Instagram & Facebook are a huge contribution to business and advertising/getting new custom!

The best thing about being self employed

Being self employed gives me a sense of freedom that I’ve never experienced before, I am in charge of my own destiny, and how well i do, how much hard work i put in is what i get out of it! The flexibility is a massive thing too, I have a 2 year old daughter and when I went back to work after maternity leave, I decided I need to have more of a flexible work life and this has worked amazingly for me I have a great work/home balance which means a lot to me so I can spend time with my family as well as run a successful business.

The hardest thing about being self employed

The hardest thing is the pressure i put on myself to always be the best and constantly keep up with the industry so I don’t get left behind, there is so much competition in the beauty world, but I try and stay focused on myself and my business and what direction I’m going in, rather than getting wrapped up in what the next beauty therapist or salon are up to down the road, my motto is you do you and il do me- there’s plenty of business to go around!

How do you stay motivated?

My motivation is 100% my daughter, I want to give her the best life possible, but above that I want to show her how hard work can pay off and give you what you want in life and that it’s the only way to get to the top of where you want to be. Being a good role model to her is one of the most important things to me
