Sisterhood Is Really Good

Beth is an amazing local artist, founder of Field Day and regular attendee of Women's Society events! She has put together a campaign called 'Sisterhood is really good' and is raising money for Lancashire Women around International Women's Day 2020.

What Is Sisterhood Is Really Good?

A collective of artists making and selling art around International Women's Day 2020 to raise money for the charity, Lancashire Women.

What Prompted You To Put It All Together?

I, Beth, was approached by Lancashire Women to raise money for them as I had done a smaller, similar project for The Red Box last International Women's Day. I quickly realised that I would need to broaden my reach in order to raise more money and so invited other artists to help. One of the key values of the charity is collaboration and so we disregarded a business model and instead made a collective of artists of all different abilities and levels.

Who's Involved?

13 female artists - some professional, some semi professional, some who have been art students and some with no prior experience. Some have supported or been supported by the Lancashire Women's charity before.

Where Can We Buy The Artwork?

We are currently building a website which will be live soon and we are selling at numerous events:

29th February 2020, Rawtenstall Market

1st March 2020, Cronkshaw Fold Farm Trek Bike event

4th March, Bingo & Bevvy's at The Whip & Kitten

6th March, Lancashire Telegraph IWD event

Bangor St Community Centre, Blackburn

6th March, Lancashire Women's Ball at The Dunkenhalgh

Where Are The Proceeds Going & Why?

All of the profit is going to the charity Lancashire Women. We wanted to support this charity exclusively as it supports women in our area.

Who or What Inspires You?

One another - this has been a collaborative project, there has been no competition between artists. The artists have supported one another through coffee shop meetings, brews in my living room, over social media and will in person at the events. Each of us takes inspiration from different places, but all agree that women in art need as much representation and support as they can get!
